UNDERSTANDING OUR THOUGHT

In detail, write down your thoughts begin with the Time & Date.

What events took place. What happened?

What was the Negative Thought that you had?

What images ran through your mind ? What did you believe?

UNDERSTANDING OUR EMOTION

How did that thought make you feel?

Explain what emotions you felt, was it anger, or sadness?

UNDERSTANDING OUR BEHAVIOR

Taking time to understand why we responded the way we did is how we will identify our Negative Thought Patterns allowing us an opportunity to become better at controlling our emotions.

What was your response to your thought?

What did you do after your thought? Was there a negative behavior?

How did your response make you feel? Did you feel guilt, shame, sadness?

IDENTIFYING NEGATIVE THOUGHTS

What evidence do you have for your thought? Is there evidence that your thought is not true? What is something that is true?

Is there other information to consider? Is there another way to look at this?

Is there a more positive outcome?

What Negative Thought Pattern do you identify this as?

What is a better thought to have about the situation?

What is a better response to the thought?

MOVING FORWARD

How do you feel about this thought now?

Do you still believe this thought to be true?

Do you think you can identify and work on these negative thoughts when they occur before you feel an emotion from them?

Is there anything you can do to change the outcome of the situation? Has it happened already? Is there any positive actions you can take?

What are you feeling now? Do you still feel the same?

By taking the time to understand more about our mental health, with practice and patience on ourselves, and others, we can recognize and respond better to our Negative Thinking Patterns. Leading us to feeling good about our behaviors and better about ourselves.
