Deescalating Our Thoughts

Our Thoughts is a response to a situation, it create Emotions and instigates our Behaviors.

Having negative thoughts can sometimes create and lead to a lot of anxiety in our lives. Allowing our thoughts to escalate about a scenario tends to create very negative emotions preventing us from doing things we enjoy in our lives. Sometimes we assume the worst, and act on it before it has even happened.

UNDERSTANDING OUR THOUGHT

Write down exactly what it is that you are worried about or that is bothering you.

Write down how bad it would be to be true or happen. Not "if's" but exactly what would happen. IE: wont be able to pay bills.

Rate it on a scale of 1 -10 if it happened how bad would that be?

What would be a consequence of this happening?

SETTING THE TONE

What are the chances of this happening?

Has this happened to you in the past ?

Has this happened to others? How Often ?

What would you do if this did happen?

How would you cope?

Are there people who could help you?

What steps would you take if this were to come true?

What would you say to a friend if this happened to them ?

What would the best possible outcome be?

MOVING FORWARD

What is the most likely outcome? (not best or worst, most realistic)

Has this happened to you or others before?

In detail write down how you will handle it.

How would the most likely outcome make you feel?

Will you be ok one week after your fear comes true?

what about one month ? or year one year from now?

ASK YOURSELF

Are you still just as worried about it?

Did you find this helpful?

How do you feel about it now? Has anything changed?
