Tunu's 52

SAM 2.0 Previously known as Suicide Awareness Movement.

Tunu's 52 is a journey into my recovery after child-loss, coping with addictions, mental health and suicide prevention.

Sharing my passion for Automotive History, Auto Racing, & using the restoration of a Canadian 1952 Pontiac, to show others it is possible to turn your life around when you find something you are passionate about.

My goal is to continue to show others they are not alone in their battles, raising awareness & fundraising for mental health, while sharing my personal story with hopes of helping to end the stigma around mental illness and suicide.

Tunu's 52 is the next chapter of SAM.

Mental Health Awareness

SAM is a movement to create change in the way we speak about, approach and understand mental illness. Bringing people together to show those who may be struggling with their mental health that they are not alone, while empowering others to share their story. With hopes of providing a better understanding and reducing the stigma around mental illness & suicide.

DEREK GIFFIN

I began sharing my story and journey as a Mental Health Advocate in 2017, after a number of failed suicide attempts and the death of my mother.

Creating #RacingToSaveLives after many years struggling with my addictions & mental health I turned my life around using my passions for stock car racing.

I shared my story all over Canada with a campaign called SAM - Suicide Awareness Movement, with hopes of helping others know they are not alone with their challenges and to show others it is possible to turn your life around when you find something you are passionate about.

On Aug. 16 2021, my son passed away. He was my first and only child.

I am continuing to grow and share my story as I learn to cope through the loss of my son, Tunu, with hopes of helping others.

Continuing to share my passion for automotive history, stock car racing, and my experience using the restoration of Tunu's 52 as a distraction & coping tool to move forward with my life and the adventures that will proceed.

Mental Health Awareness

Take the time to understand mental illness and different disorders, they are not all the same, but we are all not that different from one another.

We all experience some traits or emotions associated with most mental illnesses at some point in our lives. Some people experience them more intense, more often and are unable to control them. Anxiety is a perfect example of this, we have all experienced anxiety in our lives. Ask anybody who has taken a driving exam or asked their crush out on a date if they were anxious about it.

By understanding more about our mental health we will help to reduce the stigma and change the conversation.

You Are Not Alone.

Yellow, purple and teal are vibrant colors that represent suicide prevention and awareness, a cause that is extremely important to our survivors.

Our Movement is to show others they are not alone in their personal battles, feeling love and support from people who understand what they're going through, sharing moments that made us stronger, understanding mental illness and tools to help others cope through their journey to healing.

Our SAM products are to show others they are not alone in their personal battles, while raising awareness to the stigma around mental illness, and suicide.

When you use our SAM products it creates an environment that shows someone you care about what they are going through, allowing them to feel comfortable about opening up to you.

Proceeds from the sale of our SAM products allows us to continue to share our story to those who need it most, get involved with events, and to help with our fundraising goals and campaigns.
